Ft Carson's Mountain Post Historical Center lands Challenge Grant

Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado awards $25,000 challenge grant to Mountain Post Historical Center Association

Funds raised through February 24, 2010, to be matched dollar for dollar

The Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado has awarded a challenge grant to the Mountain Post Historical Center Association, which supports the efforts to build the Mountain Post Historical Center (MPHC). The MPHC will preserve and commemorate the sacrifices and honor the history of Fort Carson and its soldiers.

The $25,000 challenge grant will be used to raise operating support, as well as launch a new initiative, the MPHC Kit Carson Society. The Kit Carson Society was established to create a group of core supporters for the MPHC project and build a strong base of future contributors for the Center. The challenge grant provides a dollar-for-dollar match for gifts from first-time donors or donors who increase their gifts to the MPHC. The MPHC has until February 2010 to match the grant.

“This is an exciting opportunity to enhance our fundraising efforts,” states Ed Soriano, LTG (Retired), US Army, MPHCA Executive Committee. “The Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado has an admirable track record of supporting nonprofit organizations and we are honored to be chosen.”
