343 MILITARY FAMILIES WAIT FOR SANCTUARY'S SERVICES

343 military families from 50 states wait to attend a Project Sanctuary therapeutic retreat in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Following an endorsement from the Department of Defense in February, applications for therapeutic retreats increased from 10 per week to more than 10 per day.

As more troops return from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, the need for integrative services is rapidly growing. Project Sanctuary has identified an effective method for helping our heroes ease back into family life.

Project Sanctuary helps military families reconnect and find peace again after deployment through diversion, recreation therapy in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Each retreat is an all-expenses-paid, five-night long getaway where the families enjoy a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities, including skiing, snowmobiling, marriage building workshops, financial planning and connection with other military families. Through these experiences the walls come down and families again experience peace, joy and love within the family unit.

Project Sanctuary is funded through August for helping only 80 families this year. However because of the increased demand, the organization seeks to rapidly expand funding efforts through grants, events and individual donations. Watch for a golf tournament at the Country Club at Castle Pines on July 13, 2009 and a Ten for Troops giving campaign in April 2009.
