GRANT FUNDS AVAILABLE TO COMPANIES TO ENSURE GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS AND AVOID LAYOFFS

Colorado Springs, CO - - The Pikes Peak Workforce Center announces a new program that helps employers in El Paso and Teller counties avoid layoffs.

The Incumbent (employed) Workers program provides grants for training so that companies can help their employees learn new skills or upgrade existing skills to ensure business competitiveness in the global economy.

Grant funds are currently available to train full-time, permanent, non-contractual workers who earn at least $12 per hour.

Companies demonstrating that training may help avoid future layoffs will be given priority for the grants. Grant funds are limited to $30,000 per company. The training funds will be awarded through a competitive process. Applications can be found online at www.ppwfc.org and must be submitted by April 9, 2010.

Companies seeking more information should call 719.667.3870.
