Colorado Springs Jiffy Lube partners with American Heart Association

Colorado Springs, CO (Letter23 Creative) – Jiffy Lube® service centers in Colorado Springs, managed by Griffin Fast Lube, today announce their participation in the third year of the company’s Maintenance Partners for Life campaign to support the American Heart Association’s® (AHA) Go Red For Women movement. Heart disease is the nation’s number one killer of women and men, and Jiffy Lube is committed to raising more than $1.5 million between through March 13 to help stamp out the disease.

Research shows that many people are unaware of the threats to both their heart health and vehicle health. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among women, a fact which is not largely recognized, claiming the lives of approximately 460,000 women per year, averaging one woman per minute. According to a recent survey conducted by American Automobile Association (AAA), most car owners also have misperceptions about proper vehicle maintenance. The survey also revealed that car owners who were not sure about proper maintenance schedules sometimes did either too little or too much maintenance. The Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life campaign stresses the importance of being vigilant about heart health and vehicle health, and educates people about smart, preventive maintenance for both their bodies and vehicles. Jiffy Lube customers will receive valuable information on keeping both their body and vehicle “engines” performing at their best.

Griffin Fast Lube, who operate 25 Jiffy Lube stores throughout Colorado, have been impressed by the community spirit and generosity of their customers in Colorado Springs, Denver and Fort Collins. “The people of Colorado are exceptional when it comes to supporting causes that impact our community,” said D.J. Griffin, owner of Griffin Fast Lube. “We are extremely excited about the opportunity to team up again with our community, this time to help fight heart disease. Maintenance Partners for Life not only allows us to raise funds, but also to educate our customers on how they can reduce their risk of heart disease – and to make sure they remember the importance of vehicle maintenance as well.”

Beginning February 8, 2010, local Jiffy Lube customers can participate in the fundraising campaign by donating $3 to Go Red For Women, and in return will receive a Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life savings book worth $100 in vehicle preventive-maintenance savings. The book also features recipes for health meals and tips for living a healthier lifestyle. Additionally, beginning February 13th, volunteers from the American Heart Association will be providing free blood pressure screenings to customers on weekends at select Colorado Springs Jiffy Lube locations.

“In the first two years of Maintenance Partners for Life, we have seen tremendous support and achievements in local communities by Jiffy Lube franchisees, employees and customers,” said Neil Meltzer, American Heart Association Board Chairman. “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Colorado Springs Jiffy Lube service centers to raise funds that support critical research and education programs to help fight heart disease.”
