Press Release
Get Loaded
Two new websites have been launched that Cargo, Freight and Courier companies and their customers in Colorado and other U.S. States can use Free of Charge.
The sites have been specifically designed and developed over a 2 year period to help all types of road-load carriers and their customers meet on a common platform where each can list their load-space availability or requirements. The potential for site users to reduce costs and increase profit cannot be underestimated and many will see the services the sites offer as a means towards achieving greater efficiencies.
With so much focus on the Carbon Footprint it may not be too long before the freight industry comes under the spotlight even more and is forced down the road into re-thinking journey planning and load organization in order to minimize the transportation of too much ‘fresh air . Whilst road-load carriers continue to face spiraling costs in terms of higher fuel, insurance, tax and vehicle maintenance costs leading to even greater erosion of already tight margins, their customers continue to expect competitive pricing. The sites are:

www.globalfreightfinder.com
Comments Steve Rowlands who designed and launched the sites; Working in the field of Project Management I had opportunities to fully understand the plight of the road haulage industry and quickly realized how competitive it is whilst appreciating the never-ending search it has to fill load-space. Anyone travelling by road anywhere in the world can’t help but notice haulage vehicles that are empty or only part-loaded; in essence carrying ‘fresh air’ that has to be paid for with fuel that continues to increase in cost which can be crippling in terms of over-inflated operating costs. With some road-haulage vehicles at best achieving only 5-9 miles per gallon, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize how much it was costing the carrier to haul space and realized that I had to do something to support the industry and it’s customers. The rest is history and the sites were born.
I encourage everyone reading this article who has any load-space available to sell or is looking for space to ship single or multiple consignments no matter how big or small, to list their details on the sites for all to see. While www.freightexx.com is the road-load search site that’s driven by it’s members, I’m hoping that both sites will be well received and used for the benefit of all.

New site for Car and Truck lovers
Do you think about cars, pickups and trucks every day? Do you read about the new models, watch automotive programs on television, and dream about the perfect vehicle? Can you name a vehicle’s make and model from 100 yards away in traffic? Maybe you like playing on four wheels in the dirt and mud?
This site is for off-roaders, four-wheelers, restorers and antique-lovers. ColoradoCarsandTrucks.com is the welcoming place for the enthusiast who wants to let friends and neighbors know about the latest road trip, whether on or off the highway. It’s a place where rally- and poker runners can exchange views and information; antique, new or model-specific car club members are able to discuss their latest meet, their latest show or a coming meeting or event.
Or do you just need information that is objective and reliable? If so, this website is custom-designed for you. If it has four wheels (or more!) and an engine, we’re going to write about it.
CCT is your on-line magazine and community website dedicated to the enjoyment, entertainment and education surrounding car and truck enthusiasts from all over the state of Colorado. It’s through active community feedback and participation that CCT delivers viable and relevant content to our members. And it’s through those contributing members that CCT is able to offer a friendly, informative, thoughtful, safe and respectful environment for all CCT members.
A key part of Colorado Cars and Trucks.com is the community forums. It's in the forums where you'll find the people of Colorado talking together as a community, brought together through the common interest of cars and trucks. It's in the forums where we'll be looking for your feedback and suggestions about what you want to see covered in the magazine. Colorado Cars and Trucks.com (CCT) magazine will offer feature articles, historical documents, photographs, statistics and general useful information throughout the year. CCT is also honored to provide special forums and content pages to qualifying clubs and organizations within the state of Colorado. There are a lot of great people, clubs and events across the United States and we honor their dedication and commitment to their passions. But when we started CCT we knew that a single e-publication couldn't take on everything related to cars and trucks around the country, so rather than limiting ourselves to just one type of car or truck or special interest area, we decided to focus on a geographical region. By staying focused on Colorado we can develop relationships and contacts in a broad range of subjects related to cars and trucks.
Registration and membership are free. CCT provides access to posting in the public forums, submitting and publishing automotive articles and placing classified ads. The site is supported by member businesses and organizations that purchase advertising space on the CCT website. To keep ColoradoCarsandTrucks.com on-line, members are encouraged to use the links to our advertisers on the site to visit those businesses and organizations supporting CCT.

Colorado Springs Jiffy Lube partners with American Heart Association
Colorado Springs, CO (Letter23 Creative) – Jiffy Lube® service centers in Colorado Springs, managed by Griffin Fast Lube, today announce their participation in the third year of the company’s Maintenance Partners for Life campaign to support the American Heart Association’s® (AHA) Go Red For Women movement. Heart disease is the nation’s number one killer of women and men, and Jiffy Lube is committed to raising more than $1.5 million between through March 13 to help stamp out the disease.
Research shows that many people are unaware of the threats to both their heart health and vehicle health. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among women, a fact which is not largely recognized, claiming the lives of approximately 460,000 women per year, averaging one woman per minute. According to a recent survey conducted by American Automobile Association (AAA), most car owners also have misperceptions about proper vehicle maintenance. The survey also revealed that car owners who were not sure about proper maintenance schedules sometimes did either too little or too much maintenance. The Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life campaign stresses the importance of being vigilant about heart health and vehicle health, and educates people about smart, preventive maintenance for both their bodies and vehicles. Jiffy Lube customers will receive valuable information on keeping both their body and vehicle “engines” performing at their best.
Griffin Fast Lube, who operate 25 Jiffy Lube stores throughout Colorado, have been impressed by the community spirit and generosity of their customers in Colorado Springs, Denver and Fort Collins. “The people of Colorado are exceptional when it comes to supporting causes that impact our community,” said D.J. Griffin, owner of Griffin Fast Lube. “We are extremely excited about the opportunity to team up again with our community, this time to help fight heart disease. Maintenance Partners for Life not only allows us to raise funds, but also to educate our customers on how they can reduce their risk of heart disease – and to make sure they remember the importance of vehicle maintenance as well.”
Beginning February 8, 2010, local Jiffy Lube customers can participate in the fundraising campaign by donating $3 to Go Red For Women, and in return will receive a Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life savings book worth $100 in vehicle preventive-maintenance savings. The book also features recipes for health meals and tips for living a healthier lifestyle. Additionally, beginning February 13th, volunteers from the American Heart Association will be providing free blood pressure screenings to customers on weekends at select Colorado Springs Jiffy Lube locations.
“In the first two years of Maintenance Partners for Life, we have seen tremendous support and achievements in local communities by Jiffy Lube franchisees, employees and customers,” said Neil Meltzer, American Heart Association Board Chairman. “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Colorado Springs Jiffy Lube service centers to raise funds that support critical research and education programs to help fight heart disease.”

Better Business Bureau announces new mobile app for consumers
BBB OFFERS TWO NEW TOOLS TO HELP CONSUMERS SHOP WITH CONFIDENCE
Your Better Business Bureau is now making its reliability reports available for download to mobile devices such as iPhones. All a consumer needs to do is go to http://m.bbb.org and download the application. They are then able to access the four million reports in the BBB’s national database.
Reliability reports are the stock and trade of the BBB. These online listings contain a multitude of information about companies, including a letter grade rating of A+ through F. Now consumers can access this information when they are on the go. Even better, this new mobile device application is free.
A new browser called the “Accredited Business Locator” allows consumers to quickly see whether or not a company is an accredited business. When the search engine they are using (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) produces a list of possibilities, those companies that are BBB accredited businesses are easily identified because they display the BBB accredited business seal. In one quick step, consumers can tell that a company, because they bear this seal, is reputable. Consumers can click on the seal to directly access the company’s BBB reliability report.
The software is free to download and is powered by a company called Azigo, a leader in user-centric technologies. Go to http://www.azigo.com/landing/bbb.html and follow the prompts to download the software.
The BBB is offering these new services to protect consumers and, in the case of the Azigo software, minimize the risk of online fraud.

Stepping Up - Your Child’s Strongest Influence May Not Be You!
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (January 31, 2010) - The drug problem, according to our teens, often results from boredom and the absence of alternative social activities. In addition, both teens and parents sighted the absence of intervention as a reason for the escalation in drug use.
Join us Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Coronado High School in Colorado Springs from 6:00 – 7:30pm as we unveil some creative solutions piloted by our resourceful teens and supported by area businesses. With their help, we’ve embraced the very technologies our teens are so drawn to while creating positive social alternatives to boredom. Next, we’ve implemented an intervention network with KOAA, Channel 5/30 for parents and teens in need of help. And finally, we’ll introduce you to our special keynote speaker.
Twenty years ago the strongest influence our youth had was their parents. But in today’s digital world we have an entire generation who are influenced by a stronger social force. With more than one hundred digital cable channels to choose from and social media networks like MySpace and facebook, our children can find influence anywhere, giving the word peer pressure a whole new meaning. Earlier this spring, Conspire! and a group of typical Colorado Springs teens got together to host an event called Intention Prevention. This platform, originally assembled to find solutions to the increase in teen drug use, proved to be a real eye opener for those in attendance. According to our teens, when it comes to drugs, there is a problem. Armed with that information, Intention Prevention, affectionately named “IP” by the teens, sought solutions.
Our kids will be talking; we hope you’ll be listening. Join us and be a part of the influence!
Intention Prevention Town Hall program consists of the following:
* Performances by members of the Colorado Springs Conservatory
* Stephanie Finley - President, Governmental Affairs, Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce
* C.C. Wells and David Musante – Students from School District #11
* Dan May – District Attorney
* Susan Payne – Executive Director, Safe2Tell
* Lisa Kirkman – Magistrate, El Paso County Drug Court
* “James” – Graduate of El Paso County Drug Court
* Officer Bret Iverson – Colorado Springs Police Department
* Cindy Aubrey – News Director Channel 5/30 KOAA
* Howard Meyers - Parent
* Expert Q&A Panel of students and community leaders
Intention Prevention Town Hall is made possible through the generous support of the Colorado Springs Conservatory, Conspire, Safe2Tell, News First KOAA TV, Mr. Biggs, Colorado Springs Coca Cola, El Paso Council PTA and Seiko Marketing.
