2011 Ice on the Avenue Festival, Old Colorado City


Colorado Springs, CO (Kaiser Advertising) — The Old Colorado City Association of merchants is proud to provide a preview of the upcoming 2011 ICE ON THE AVENUE Ice Festival which will be held in Old Colorado City on January 15th & 16th from 11am to 6pm. Most of the Ice Sculptures will be in Bancroft Park, and in front of shops between 24th street and 28th street in Historic Old Colorado City just 2 miles west of downtown Colorado Springs.

The 2011 ICE ON THE AVENUE Ice Festival will feature an interactive checkers and chess ice game, ice horse and cowboy and cowgirl for photo opportunities in Bancroft Park. Blocks of ice with each weighing 300 pounds will be used during the two-day event. There are plans to have an Ice Media Desk where 12 blocks of ice will be used to create an outdoor media set big enough for local newscasters can report the day’s events and action live from the ice festival.

Care and Share will also doing fundraising as well, with Ice Piggy Banks where cash donations can be made.

“We had close to 20,000 people come out for the 2010 Ice on the Avenue and we look forward to another large crowd in 2011,” said Don Wick, President of the OCCA merchants group.

Ice Sculptor William Sandusky, the 3rd Place Winner at the 2009 BP World Ice Art Championship which was held in Alaska will be doing most of the sculpting again this year. You will want to be here on the 15th and 16th of January to witness Art, Ice and Ambience.
