1A Public Forum, Colorado Springs, CO , Wed, Oct 27

Press Release

THE CAMPAIGN WILL ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM THE COMMUNITY AND EXPLAIN WHY VOTING “NO” ON COUNTY QUESTION 1A KEEPS OUR COMMUNITIES SAFE

Colorado Springs, CO – On Wednesday, October 27th from noon to 1:00, the “No on 1A” campaign will host a public forum downtown in the Carnegie Room at the Penrose Library. The “No on 1A” campaign has been launched by Citizens for Safer Communities, a grassroots issue committee formed to defeat the ban on Medical Marijuana Centers. The committee includes business owners, doctors, attorneys, engineers, construction workers, and other community leaders. The general public is invited to come out and learn more regarding 1A and get their questions answered.
County Question 1A allows registered voters in El Paso County to decide whether to ban Medical Marijuana Centers in the unincorporated portions of El Paso County. If passed, this ban could put thousands of local people out of work, cause untold numbers of bankruptcies, harm the local economy, decrease government revenue, and deny access to essential treatment for thousands of local people suffering from disease and sickness.

In addition, if passed 1A would push the Medical Marijuana industry into our neighborhoods. Under 1A, your next door neighbor could legally sell Medical Marijuana without your knowledge, and there would be a greater risk of home invasions, fires, and other hazards. By voting “NO” on 1A, you ensure that the Medical Marijuana industry remains highly regulated, secured, and out of our neighborhoods.
The forum will feature two speakers: Steve Hammers, President of Hammers Construction, who will discuss why the passage of 1A would hurt the local economy and cause local people to lose their jobs; and Lono Ho’ala, a biochemist, author, and Kahuna Priest, who will explain why the passage of 1A would drive the Medical Marijuana business back into our neighborhoods, making our neighborhoods less safe.
