On Tuesday, April 21, 2009, the City of Fountain will be hosting its’ 11th Annual Community Night Out. The event will be held at the Fountain-Fort Carson High School, 900 Jimmy Camp Road.
The event begins at 5:00 p.m. in the cafeteria with over 35 non-profit organizations having displays that show what their organization has to offer the citizens of Fountain. Fountain’s Poet Laureate, Frank Montoya, will be displaying and distributing copies of his favorite poems.
The event moves to the auditorium at 6:00 p.m. Local leaders will briefly detail what is happening within their organizations for 2009. The leaders include: Mayor Jeri C. Howells; Council Members: Sharon Brown, Bryan Johnson and Gabriel Ortega. Other leaders include COL Eugene Smith, Garrison Commander for Fort Carson; Commissioner Dennis Hisey, El Paso County Commissioner for District 4; and Cheryl Walker, Superintendent for School District 8.
School District 8 students who will be participating include JROTC, led by 1SG LeRoy Bogan; Trojanaires under the director of Mr. Ron Wilson; and the D.A.R.E. choir under the direction of Mrs. Gwendolyn Rapp and Officer Dave Langfels.
Local restaurants will be providing light snacks at the 5:00 p.m. venue.
Drawings for door prizes will be held starting at the 6:00 p.m. venue.
All residents of Fountain are invited to attend this event.
