Colorado Springs, CO, February 10, 2010- Peak Vista Community Health Centers is pleased to announce that its new Mobile Homeless Medical Van, Bridging the Gaps Homeless Medical Outreach, is on the road serving patients. In partnership with El Paso County and Catholic Charities, the new mobile unit provides care similar to what Peak Vista currently provides at its state of the art Homeless Health Center, which was relocated to 117 West Rio Grande in October of 2009. In addition, the unit will allow Peak Vista to serve many more who fall into this patient population, with emphasis on rural homeless in El Paso County.
It is anticipated that the new Mobile Homeless Medical Van will be able to accommodate 500 patients annually. Peak Vista will partner with Catholic Charities during visits to migrant camps, rural areas and other areas in El Paso County to provide comprehensive medical care to the homeless and to those at risk of becoming homeless.
Greg Morris, PA, longtime Director of Homeless Services for Peak Vista and a nationally recognized subject matter expert and advocate for the homeless, is responsible for both the Homeless Health Center and the new Mobile Homeless Medical Van.
