More stats for SouthSideBusiness.com
We now use three different sets of tracking software for SouthSideBusiness.com. Each has its own methodology and parameters, so each gives different results. However, they have unique characteristics that make them all useful.
We'll continue to use AWStats for traffic reporting, as that's what we started with and I want to compare apples to apples from month to month.
Google Analytics provides geographic information though. We can tell roughly where our traffic is coming from.
Over the past 30 days, about 45% of visits came from Colorado Springs and Fountain. About 12% came from the Denver metro area. 4% came from NYC. Rounding out the top cities were Minneapolis, Encino and Mount Laural at about 1% each. About 93% of traffic overall came from the U.S.

Happy New Year all! December 2012 was second, all-time, in unique visitors at 1,608, and second in pageviews at 18,096. Total visits came in at 6,637, third best ever. October 2012 still holds the records in all three categories.

October 2012, new record traffic and first year over year comparison for SouthSideBusiness.com
October 2012 easily set new traffic records on SouthSideBusiness.com. The site received 8186 visits from 4075 unique visitors and 21,225 pageviews. This is the first month that we have year over year comparisons since the relaunch of the re-formatted site. The October 2012 numbers are up nearly 400% from October 2011. SouthSideBusiness.com had been up for over six years before the relaunch, displaying a pdf version of the monthly hard-copy of the paper.

SouthSideBusiness.com set new records again in August for unique visitors and total visits. Pageviews came very close, once again topping an average of 500 per day. We topped 6,000 visits for the first time (6,027) from 3087 unique visitors. Pageviews came in at 16,065.

Southsidebusiness.com - March easily shatters web traffic records
The month of March 2012 was the best traffic month ever for SouthSideBusiness.com, by a long shot. The previous high for visits in a month was around 3800 in November 2011. March came in at 5,065 or an average of 163 visits per day.
Unique visitors was also a new high at 2,577, a better than 33% jump over February. Pageviews, another record at 14,858, or 2.93 pageviews/visit.

*Explanation of terms. A unique visitor is an IP address. It's not quite a unique person as people sharing a home or office network, in most cases, would be reflected as a single unique user. A visit is someone coming on site, whether they visit one page or ten, then exiting the site (that's one visit). A pageview is just what it sounds like, the number of pages within the site that were viewed. Robots and Spiders used by search engines to catalog sites, are not included in these numbers. I'm not reporting "hits" because it's not a useful number. A single visit to one page of a website can generate a dozen or more hits.
Unique visitors was also a new high at 2,577, a better than 33% jump over February. Pageviews, another record at 14,858, or 2.93 pageviews/visit.
